Clinical Laboratory Sciences

CLSP Curriculum

The Clinical Laboratory Sciences (CLSP) program curriculum was adapted from a well-established program at Arkansas University. It has been modified to suit the needs of our university, patients, and community.

The CLS curriculum prepares students to perform clinical laboratory procedures in biochemistry, hematology, microbiology, and immunology. These are used in maintaining health, diagnosing, and treating patients. The curriculum emphasizes mathematical and scientific concepts related to specimen (blood, tissue, and body fluids) collection, laboratory test procedures, performance, quality assurance, reporting, and recording.

The curriculum structure is based on two phases:

Phase I: Pre-Professional (Preparatory Four Semesters, which are offered to all health science colleges).

Phase II: Professional courses (Four semesters)

During phase II, students are exposed to teaching in college classrooms and basic laboratories and training in hospital laboratories.
